Adding a qualification to your profile
Listing your qualifications is optional on Mycare, but adding one that's been verified helps clients trust your profile, and it can help you find more work.
When you add a qualification, we ask for evidence so our team can confirm it. Your evidence is only ever seen by our team to check the qualification. It's never shown to clients, and it's stored securely.
You can provide your evidence in one of two ways: upload the original document, or share a link from My eQuals. You only need to do one.
Which qualifications we verify
We only verify NZ care-related qualifications. That way, when a client sees a verified qualification on your profile, they can trust it's genuine. Care-related types include:
- NZ Registered Nurse (RN/EN)
- First Aid Certificate
- NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (all levels)
- Nursing certificate — not registered in NZ
- NZ qualification or overseas qualification with a IQA or OSA evidence.
You're welcome to add other qualifications that aren't care-related too. These won't go through verification, so you won't be asked for evidence for them. Just add these in the 'Other' qualification type.
Uploading a document
This is the most common option. You can upload:
- your NZQA New Zealand Record of Achievement (most people use this one)
- an NZQA International Qualification Assessment (IQA) or Overseas Study Assessment (OSA), if your qualification is from overseas
How to find and download your NZQA document
Both of these come from NZQA, so you'll download them from your NZQA account:
- Log in to your NZQA account at www2.nzqa.govt.nz/login
- Once you're logged in, go to your Record of Achievement (or your IQA/OSA result if your qualification is from overseas).
- Download it as a PDF and save it to your device.
- Upload that original PDF here, exactly as it downloaded.
Don't have an NZQA account yet? You can set one up at www2.nzqa.govt.nz/login/create-account. You'll need your National Student Number (NSN) to create it.
The most important thing is to upload the document exactly as it was issued. When we verify it, we check the file against the official record it came from, so any change stops it verifying, even when it looks perfect to you.
⚠️ Please don't rename it, edit it, re-save it, or upload a photo or screenshot. Just download the original PDF and upload that.
If you're using your phone, upload the PDF straight from your Files or Downloads. Opening it in another app first can change the file without you realising.
Sharing a My eQuals link
If you'd rather share your credential online, you can paste a My eQuals link instead.
- Log in to My eQuals and create a share of your credential.
- Choose the "Public on the web" option, so our team can open it without needing a PIN.
- Set the share to have no expiry, or a long one, so we have time to check it.
- Copy the link, then paste it into the Link box and save.

My eQuals is only available with selected education providers, see if your provider is a participant here.
If you're a registered nurse (RN/EN)
For NZ Registered Nurse (RN/EN) qualifications, we don't need a document. We verify your registration directly against the Nursing Council of New Zealand's public register.
To do this, we just need your nursing registration number (APC number) and your name exactly as it appears on the register. We'll match these against the register to confirm your registration is current.
Make sure the name on your Mycare profile matches your registered name, otherwise the check may not find you.
As with all evidence, your registration number is only used by our team to verify your qualification. None of your evidence, whether it's files, links or registration numbers, is ever shown to clients.
If your qualification isn't approved
We'll let you know the reason. You'll then need to add a new qualification with your updated evidence, rather than editing the one that wasn't approved.
Or upload to 'Other' section, if it is not verifiable.
Can't find your qualification, or don't have either of these?
If your qualification isn't in My eQuals and hasn't been issued or assessed by NZQA, we may not be able to verify, you can either upload it into the 'Other' section or reach out to the Mycare team.
