Can I be a family carer?
On Mycare, a family carer refers to a person who already has a personal relationship with the client and is engaged as an independent support worker through the platform.
To be paid to care for a family member with a disability you must be over the age of 16, physically able to provide household or personal care, and available when your family member's care is needed.

Can I use Mycare as a family carer?
Many family carers find Mycare a simple way to handle the administrative side of caring for a family member. We process the weekly payments to your worker and work alongside your IF host to ensure funds from your IF budget can top up your Mycare account.
It can be very helpful to use Mycare if you prefer there not to be an employer/employee relationship, as the family carer will work as an independent contractor, and no one assumes the responsibility of being an employer.
How do I sign up on Mycare as a family carer?
- Create a client/care organiser account. This will be for the person receiving care.
- Create a worker account. This is for the family carer. When signing up as a family carer, you do not need to complete the usual worker trust and safety verifications, unless you want to find other work on Mycare.
- Let Mycare know, we will make sure your profiles are ready to go and set up to use your government funding.
- In the client account go to the workers tab, and select Invite worker. Here add the email attached to your family carer's worker account.
