Can I be a worker on Mycare?
Mycare is an online and mobile marketplace for home care services. We want to help people to find the work they want, in their local community, so they can live life their way. It’s as simple as that.

How is Mycare different from a care agency?
Workers on Mycare are all independent contractors, you will not be an employee of Mycare. You are permitted to set your own rates and decide the hours that you’re available to work. We don’t have any rules about qualifications and experience – clients are looking for different types of care from home care, personal care, companionship and more.
The best way to put it is to think of using Mycare as being your own little business!
What does it cost and how much will I be paid?
- There are no fees to get started.
- We charge a 5% platform fee on the chosen hourly rate once you are successfully booked and paid by the client.
- Your pay will be negotiated with the client, based on the care needed. You will be paid weekly at the agreed rate minus the service fee.
- We also pay a minimum 10% of your pay to the IRD as withholding tax (WT) on your behalf to assist with end-of-year taxes. You may choose to increase the amount we withhold, which can be done in your profile settings.

To successfully onboard with Mycare you must meet the following criteria:
- Be 16 years of age or older
- Have valid proof of ID
- Have NZ residency or current open work visa (note those on student visas may not find work on Mycare)
- Reside in NZ and provide proof of this
- Agree to a police vetting through us, which must return free of convictions
- Agree to be booked and paid solely through our platform for any work found on Mycare
