Mycare's Privacy Policy

At Mycare, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and, where applicable, the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

This policy applies to all users of the Mycare website and platform (www.mycare.co.nz).

General Privacy Policy

1 What information we collect We collect only the personal information necessary to operate our platform and services.  This may include:

  • Name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, IRD number
  • Account, booking, payment and communication information
  • Content uploaded by users to the platform
  • Website and technical information (cookies, analytics, device and browser information)

2 Why we collect your information We collect and use personal information to:

  • Create and manage accounts
  • Facilitate user listings, bookings and to maintain service and transaction records
  • Enable payments
  • Support communication to users including facilitating the delivery of information, content and offers to users, communications between users and with potential users
  • Maintain platform safety and security
  • Meet funding, audit and legal obligations
  • Improve the platform, services and user experience
  • Analyse web traffic and user of the platform

3 Who we share your information with We may share personal information where lawful and necessary, including with:

  • Our marketing providers for purposes of facilitating the delivery of information, content and offers to users and potential users
  • Other users involved in service delivery
  • Government agencies, funders and auditors
  • Legal or regulatory authorities where required by law

4 Consent Where consent is required, we will seek it.  Some disclosures are authorised by law and do not require consent.

5 Cookies and Analytics We use cookies and analytics tools to operate and improve our website. You may control cookies through your browser settings.

6 Security We take reasonable steps to protect personal information using secure systems, restricted access, and regular security reviews.

7 Retention We keep personal information only for as long as required for lawful purposes, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

8 Overseas Storage Some information may be processed or stored outside New Zealand. Where this occures, we take steps to ensure comparable privacy protections.

10 Privacy Breaches If a serious privacy breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Privacy Commissioner.

11 Complaints If you have concerns, please contact hello@mycare.co.nz. You may also complain to the Privacy Commissioner.

Health Information Privacy

This Health Information Privacy Notice applies where Mycare collects, uses, or shares health information.

1 What is Health Information Health information includes information about:

  • Physical or mental health conditions
  • Disability or support needs
  • Health and care services provided
  • NHI numbers of client reference numbers
  • Funding and assessment information

2 How We Use Health Information We collect and use health information only where necessary to:

  • Co-ordinate care and support services
  • Facilitate users listings, making bookings and maintaining service records
  • Enable payments
  • Meet funding, audit and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure safety, quality and accountability

3 Disclosure of Health Information Health information may be shared only where permitted by law, including with:

  • Other users directly involved in care and support services
  • Government agencies, funders and auditors
  • Health or safety authorities where required

4 Minimisation and Access We collect only the minimum health information required. Access is restricted to authorised users and staff.

5 Retention and Security Health information is stored securely and retained only as long as required by law, funding arrangements, or legitimate service needs.

6 Your Health Privacy Rights You have the right to:

  • Access your health information
  • Request correction
  • Be informed about uses and disclosures
  • Make a complaint about misuse
